300kVA Standby Generator Installation in Hampshire

Hampshire Generators has just completed the full installation of a 300kVA Scania diesel generator in a large shopping centre in Fleet in Hampshire.

The installation involved the removal of the existing unit that was at the end of its working life – a 1990’s Perkin’s engine generator – along with the degassing, decommissioning and strip-out of the existing diesel fuel tank and pipework.

The project included a new day tank, interconnecting pipework, fire-wire drop valve, generator removal and replacement, exhaust silencer and flue installation, commissioning and load bank testing. The generator was reconnected to the existing outlet attenuator (noise reduction louvres) as this was found to be in very good condition.

The generator was installed in a plant room which had limited access along a sloped corridor – meaning that access was difficult but Hampshire Generators successfully removed the old and installed the new generator without any damage to the building or generators.

While these works were being undertaken Hampshire Generators installed a temporary 300kVA hire generator which covered the shopping centre if the mains should fail in the week or two the works were being carried out. We also supplied temporary cables, cable containment and fencing to provide a full installation service to the customer.
