What Is A Dual Fuel Generator
You will find that most Generators in the UK market work by means of single fuel technology. The Excel Power XL8000iDF dual fuel generator offers two options for your back up power source both Petrol and LPG. A dual fuel generator will offer the ability to switch between Petrol and LPG either automatically or manually depending on the specification of the generator you purchase.
There are a number of advantages this Dual Fuel technology can offer. Dual Fuel generators are a more Eco friendly option in comparison to single fuel generators on the market, With their more efficient engine the generator will produce less carbon emissions into the environment. A dual fuel generator will also eliminate any need to have large amounts of fuel in storage, they are a lot more cost effective and efficient. In recent years many councils have opted for petrol free sites for many markets or local events, the dual fuel option will mean a safer greener portable alternative for you wherever necessary.
Do Inverter Generators have low emission engines?
Not all do but the requirement since 2021 is to have a low emission certified ‘Euro V’ engine – all Excel Power petrol generators are certified to this low emission standard. You can rest assured that this generator has a low impact on our environment.
Is the Excel Power XL8000iDF Easy to Start and Use?
You bet it is – Simply push a button and the generator start up (electric start). There is also a remote key fob start function, just click the key fob button to start and stop the generator. The easy recoil start (pull start) is for emergency use which is smooth and silky. On a well-maintained unit it starts first pull every time – it is engineered to run on the new E10 petrol now available so there are no worries there either.
There are two Uk 3-pin 13A sockets, 1 x 32A 230V socket, 1 X 12V DC port and 1 USB port to connect your electrical equipment up to. Also, this unit has as an easy-to-read onboard digital display so you can see information such as, hours run, output voltage and frequency. A great feature is the Power Meter which shows you when you are getting close to full load and the fuel gauge so you can see when to refuel at a glance – no more having to stop your generator and open the filler to peer in!
The hour’s run meter is important as you will need to know when your generator will need servicing after the scheduled hours run time has been reached. This will keep your generator maintained and running for thousands of hours use.
Using Sensitive Equipment with the Electrical Power from the Excel Power XL8000iDF
The power produced by the Excel Power XL8000i-DF enables a smooth voltage output, true sinewave inverter technology. It keeps the 230v output clean and stable making it safe to use with electronic equipment like PC’s, laptops TV’s and more besides.
Low Noise Levels
You might think having a portable petrol generator will be very noisy. Well, think again; the Excel Power XL8000iDF is surprisingly quiet at just 68 dBA @ 7 metres.
Eco Mode on The Excel Power XL8000iDF
Fuel consumption can be minimised by the implementation of Eco Mode on the Excel Power XL8000i-DF. Simply select Eco Mode and the suitcase generator will lower its revs to increases fuel efficiency and extends the lifespan of the unit.
What Happens If I Do Not Use My Petrol Generator for Long Periods?
As with all petrol engines, if you are planning to store your generator for a long period its ‘best practice’ to either drain the fuel tank then run the generator until it stops. This will prevent any unused fuel congealing and clogging the carburettor. Or to stop the fuel from going off use a petrol additive. Remember, stale fuel can stop your generator from starting when you need it. The Excel Power XL8000iDF can be used with E10 petrol.
GENERATOR SAFETY INFORMATION
A portable generator is the ideal solution when temporary or portable power is required, that said it is also important to use your generator in a safe and effective way. When purchasing your new generator, it is always important to consider the safety factors before use. All portable generators produce the poison gas Carbon Monoxide (CO). CO is an odourless and colourless gas that can kill without warning.
Here at Hampshire Generators, we recommend you do not run your generator in any enclosed space to avoid the build-up and dangers of Carbon Monoxide. Never use your generator inside your home, garage, garden shed, cellars, boats or even cabin even if doors and windows are open and always talk to a professional prior to running your new generator.
Only use generators outside in a well-ventilated area more than 20 feet away from your home. We also recommend you install CO detectors in your home to ensure not only your safety but everyone around you.
If you experience Dizziness, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, headaches or vomiting we recommend you contact a medical professional immediately.

When will I receive my order?
In most cases, a product on our website will give you an indication of the current stock availability, but shipping is not uniform for all products. We maintain fantastic relationships with all of our suppliers and we aim to get products to customers within 3 business days of the order being taken. This availability is based on information from our suppliers and from sales and supply patterns. The availability information given is a guide only and not a guarantee as there are external factors that we may not have control over.
Coronavirus Update – UK couriers and transport companies will not currently guarantee delivery times and we are seeing a slight delay in deliveries – please bear this in mind when ordering.
Specialist Couriers – Some items such as the larger portable power stations are sent by specialist courier as standard couriers will not accept them. These specialist couriers are very reliable but sometimes don’t have tracking or timed delivery.
Split deliveries – We sometimes need to send orders for more than one item by different courier networks (portable power stations for example) – so you may receive items at different times.
1500rpm machines or larger diesel gensets however are typically priced on application and all depend on the destination. We will be happy to quote on any large diesel generator and discuss your needs over the phone or via email.
Most orders placed before 12pm on a business day will be shipped from our suppliers on the same day provided the product is in stock. If you need to be certain an item is in stock and available, or if you need a lead time, it’s worth calling our sales team on 01329 722390. Pricing for extended shipping areas like Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and outlying Islands, Outer Hebrides, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scilly Isles, and other postcodes not considered as UK mainland can be obtained also by calling our offices.
Please note that the processing of a payment and acknowledgement email does not constitute a legally binding contact. In the case of mispricing, changes in stock quantity, or if we believe the machine will be misused, we reserve the right to cancel the order and provide a full refund.
You will be contacted by phone after ordering a larger item to confirm a delivery date before your order is dispatched. Large or heavy items are dispatched through a pallet network, so if we can’t get in contact with you, we may be unable to send out your item on a next day delivery. Please be sure to include a working phone number with your order.
Heavy items will require the recipient to make arrangements to take delivery of the goods and may require the recipient to help the courier unload the item. For items that are delivered on a pallet the courier will leave the pallet as close to your door as possible.
1500rpm diesel generators will require forklift (or similar) offloading; if this is not available then we can arrange a Hiab offload at an additional price – please call us to discuss any delivery requirements.Read More
