Excel Power XL1400i 1.1KW Portable Inverter Generator

The XL1400i gives a very useful 1.1kW output which is 10% more than the competition at this end of the range – this is the smallest inverter generator designed and supplied by Excel Power and compares with Honda EU10i but with a 200W increase in power. This extra power will come in handy when charging devices and when demand is high. 

This 1kW generator is designed to not only be a useful power source but also very lightweight, quiet and easy to use. While it will not power heavy duty items, it will power lights, TV’s, your fridge and charge all your phones, iPads and laptops. As well as being useful for having in the shed or garage in winter to power the essentials when the power goes out. 

 The tiny size means it takes up very little room on a camping trip but means you will never be out of comms or need to go without watching a film on the laptop.

Power rating of the Excel Power XL1400i Generator

The XL1400i generator has a maximum rating of 1200W (1.2kW) and a continuous rating of 1100W (1.1kW).  

This is considered the minimum required now for keeping the basics powered and is a great size to choose if you don’t have any heavier items to power. If you need a hair dryer, full size kettle or aircon in your camper van then you will need a larger generator.

The maximum rating of this XL1400i 1.2kW is the most this inverter generator will provide for a short time to ‘start’ things. Some devices have a starting current that is higher than its running current so this allows for that*. This generator will run comfortably at 1.1kW as its ‘continuous’ rating, but run it at a higher load and it will trip out.

XL1400i- Electrical connection

The XL1400i has a UK standard 3 pin socket which means no adapters are required – this generator was designed in the UK for use in the UK! It also has a 12VDC ‘car style’ socket for powering low voltage devices and a 5VDC standard UCS so you can charge phones and tablets directly off the generator.

Parallel connection

The XL1400i can be connected in parallel with another XL1400i to give a higher output – the cable is included with each generator. This means two generators together will give you 2kW.  This allows you to use the smallest generator possible with the highest power at any time

Emissions are important, the designers of this generator have used the very latest design 60cc 4-stroke petrol engine certified to Euro V emissions standards – making sure your environmental impact is as low as possible.

Eco mode on the Excel Power XL1400i

Fuel consumption can be minimised by the implementation of Eco Mode on the Excel Power XL4000i. Simply select Eco Mode and this leisure generator will lower its revs to increase fuel efficiency and extend the lifespan of the unit.

This inverter generator has been designed from the ground up to use E10 petrol so no need to pay higher prices for super unleaded fuel.

Being the smallest in the range does not mean it is any less durable. This generator is built to last and comes in a strong case which fully encloses the engine, alternator and electronics. It has access panels to easily check the oil and perform routine servicing. 

It also features a 2 litre fuel tank to give a long time between fill-ups and this made longer by using the Eco-Mode that varies the engine revs depending on load. So the XL1400i inverter generator goes quiet and uses less fuel when you are running fewer items. Old-fashioned generators run at 3000rpm all the time, meaning they are noisy and use a lot more fuel
